On September 26th, President Trump announced to absolutely no one’s surprise his nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to fill vacancy on the Supreme Court. As with everything The president does – acknowledging Chinese aggression, leaving the obstinate Palestinians our of Mid-East negotiations, or simply taking off his mask on the Whitehouse balcony – the Left threw a tantrum.
Yes, the hypocrisy on The Right is obvious, and I don’t care.
I get it. When Barack Obama nominated Merrick Garland towards the end of his Reign of Error, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) went on record in no uncertain terms. “The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice. Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president.” McConnell articulated his principles clearly. He was also full of malarky. We knew it then, and we know it now. Democrats are correct in their objections. In a better world, we could count on men like McConnell to stand by their lofty principles, even – especially when they run counter to one’s interests.
Of course, in a better world, we would not have had to put up with this:
Yesterday morning on National Public Radio, Senator Mazie Hirono (D) rightly stressed Mitch McConnell’s dissembling and hypocrisy. Of course, Hirono told me and all men “shut up,” so… right back atcha’, Senator. With the introduction of Blasey-Ford and the scorched earth attempt to destroy the life of Brett Kavanaugh in 2018, the Democrats in the Senate forfeited any honor, any moral authority, and any expectation of fair play from their collogues from across the aisle.

ACB is a breath of fresh air. She is poised, confident, and possesses a recall and a command of the facts to which most of us can only aspire.
Confirmation hearings at this level have become eye-rolling and predicable. Since the Robert Bork hearings, Democrat senators seemed determined to secure their berths in Hell, to say nothing of the witnesses they called. Supreme Court nominees during a Republican administration have suffered vicious smears and character assassinations which have only escalated over the years. The strategy is an obvious one. Make the nominees’ life a living hell to hopefully serve as a warning to any potential right-of-center candidates. The confirmation hearings no longer serve a purpose beyond allowing idiots to lecture the brilliant.
The reasons are clear: In the cold light of day, a clear majority of Americans would never vote for the naked Marxist agenda the currently undergirds the Democrat platform. The Left has come to rely on the Deep State Bureaucracy to write regulations that have the force of law and a reliable judiciary to set those regulations in granite regardless of their adherence to the Constitution. Donald Trump’s 218 (as of this writing) Federal judicial appointments has thrown a wrench into that. Trump appears to be appointing judges that interpret the law as written rather than fulfill the Left’s wish list. Amy Coney Barrett represents a clear threat to the globalist ambitions of those who would do away with our constitution and our freedoms.

Judge Barrett speaking for herself appears to have originalist inclinations: “Courts have a vital responsibility to the rule of law, which is critical to a free society. But courts are not designed to solve every problem or right every wrong in the public life.”
This of course goes against the fundamental dogma of today’s Democrat Party. The Left needs a leviathan government, all-powerful, redistributing and confiscating property, bequeathing and eliminating rights as it sees fit.
Amy Coney Barrett is not Brett Kavanaugh.
The Democrats have changed tactics from the Kavanaugh fiasco they staged. Pushing a parade of perjurers accusing Barrett of running a teenage rape ring and “hanging around the punchbowl” is a non-starter this time around. They’ve instead asserted that Barrett’s ascendence to the supreme court will mean death to untold thousands. Because of Obamacare. Or Something. And of course there’s the ridiculous refrain that Trump is “packing the court.” No. “Packing the court” is increasing the number of judges. The president is simply filling vacancies. I think that in the Constitution (that quaint document the Democrats seem to hate so much). And if he want to appoint judges, he can – right up to the day he leave office.
Amy Coney Barrett vs. Dianne Feinstein.
Senator Dianne Feinstein, clearly searching for something, anything that to get just a little leveraged kept hammering Barrett on hypotheticals. It was a moment dripping with irony. Amy Coney Barrett simply cited the very words of the woman she is replacing, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, “no hints, no forecasts, no previews.”
