Your Politics Are Not Your Salvation

With division comes confusion. With confusion comes a re-writing of the scriptures, and a re-working of God into our image. We think to ourselves, ‘this is what is right, and therefore God must agree with me. It’s a common human fallacy. We align God to our world view rather than search The Word for His perspective, and bring it into the voting booth. Every election, it’s useful to note that your politics are not your salvation.  They don’t make you a moral person, and they don’t make you smart.  The deeper we internalize this, the healthier we will be.  I still want you to vote.  And I want to you pray for guidance. Because the United States is a gift, and we should be good stewards.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 14:6

Still, none of us will stand before God’s judgement throne to defend our vote.  In fact, we’re going to find out just how little our vote mattered to The Almighty.

There is one thing of which I am confident.  Conservatives and Liberals will be standing shoulder to shoulder in Glory, praising God.  Those on the Right will smile at their Leftist brothers and sisters.  Those on the Left will stare in astonishment at their conservative brethren.

Wait – I thought I got to decide who the Nazis are.

They will think, “How did Nazis get into heaven?”  Perhaps at that point, they will finally understand how badly they muffed the definition of “Nazi.”  Maybe not.  In the halls of Eternity, it won’t matter.  We’ll all be too distracted by the thousand-sun brilliance of God’s throne room to care anymore.

In the meantime, maybe we can all just calm down.  Maybe Leftists can get a sense of humor.  Yeah, I know.  Maybe Alex Cortez will learn some basic economics.  Eh, we can all hope.

Alex Cortez. Not an economist.

Look, it’s an unofficial, yet still basic tenant of Liberal Democracy.  Those in power get mocked, and the current bunch have earned it by train load.  Anyone with any sense will admit that there is a likely correlation between the current administration, the latest economic chaos, and emerging national security concerns.

Biden "I did that!"
Top pic taken just outside Philadelphia Airport. Note that the Biden parody is intact. Bottom pic actually in rural Pennsylvania. My guess is someone passing through determined to show the gun-toting hicks a thing or two.

Look, it happens.  You didn’t like mean tweets.  So, you exchanged them for incompetence.  No one voted for Biden thinking, “Wouldn’t it be great if China messed with our trade? I sure would like to see Russia mass its troops on Ukraine’s borders.  Let’s dismantle our energy independence.”  I get it – you didn’t vote for 6% inflation.  Not on purpose.

But here we are.  Now take the joke at your expense.  You still live in the greatest nation ever conceived.  And Christ is The Way to The Father.  Not the voting booth.

Selah.
